Public Assistance—Eligibility is determined for cash assistance (CalWORKs, Foster Care, Aid to Adoptions, Kinship Guardianship Assistance Payment, Cash Assistance Program to Immigrants, General Assistance) Food Stamps, Medi-Cal and County Medical Services Program under applicable federal and state laws. |

Administrative Services—Provides staff development services to public assistance staff through a six-month induction course which includes classroom and in-unit training, represents the department in state administrative hearings and county hearings on public assistance program issues. |

CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work—Helps prepare Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) recipients for jobs and coordinates programs to assist individuals towards self-sufficiency within prescribed time limits under welfare reform. |

Children and Family Services—Provides protective and supportive services for children and families. Placement services are provided to children who are abused, exploited or neglected.
|
|
Adult Services—Provides protective and in-home supportive services to needy elderly or disabled adults.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Administrative Support Services—Provides operational support to the department. This includes personnel services, fiscal services and other support services, such as clerical support and systems technical support.
