Getting a Card

Cards may be obtained at any of the County Library locations. Interested persons need to fill out and sign an application. They must also submit a picture ID along with a proof of address. Any item mailed to the potential patron can work as a proof of address. The first card is free, replacement cards cost $1.00.

Materials for circulation: The ICFL offers books, some magazines, books on tape and some videos for circulation. Reference materials and newspapers are available at the branch for perusal. Books and books on tape circulate for three weeks, videos for two days.

Fines and Fees

Overdue books: A fee of $.10 per day, per book, is charged for overdue books up to the cost of the book. No fines accrue on days when the branch is not open.

Overdue videos and DVDs: A fee of $2 per day, per item, is charged for overdue videos and DVDs up to the cost of the item. No fines accrue on days when the branch is not open.

Lost item: When an item is lost, we will charge the patron the cost of replacing the item (the price is shown on the catalog card) as well as a $5.00 processing fee.

The processing fee covers the cost to the Library of locating and ordering another copy of the item, as well as the cost in materials and time of re-processing that book.

Services Available

Literacy Services:

Interlibrary Loan: If an item is not available through our system, we will try to obtain it for you from another library system.

Internet access or public computer use: Patrons who fill out a signed "computer use agreement" and have a card in good standing (no fines, fees, overdue materials), are welcome to use the public access computers. Computers are available for one-half hour, with a possible extension to one hour, if no other patrons are waiting. We also have children's literacy computers available at our Calipatria, Heber, Holtville, Niland, Salton City and Seeley branchs.

Paperback exchange: All branches have a free paperback exchange. A paperback exchange is where you bring in a paperback of your own and trade it for a different paperback.
