Databases and Other Subscription Services

All of these sites are free for our patrons to use. Some of them require library card numbers to use, but library cards are free and can be obtained at your nearest branch. Clicking on the link in the side menu will open that site in a new window.

Brainfuse

Brainfuse is free online homework help for third through twelfth grade work with a real person. They are available from 2pm to 10pm, Pacific Standard Time.

Salem Health

Salem Health is the online version of Magill's Medical Guide. You will need your library card number to log in. (The print version is located in Salton City.)

World Book Encyclopedia

This is the familiar World Book Encyclopedia, plus an atlas, dictionary, and even a special section just on California. You will need your library card number to log in.

Ask Now

Ask Now is an online reference service. You will be chatting with a real person and expect your session to take around fifteen minutes on average.
